How does Alma Duo work?

Alma Duo has been clinically validated to provide long-lasting results and bring spontaneity back to men's and women’s lives using a painless level of the latest gold standard focused low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (LI-ESWT).

This patented technology results in a cascade of healing responses to stimulate increased blood flow, stimulate the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), and restore function and support intimacy for patients.

Unlike other shock wave technologies, Alma Duo’s patented electrohydraulic applicator is designed to reach in deeper depths (135mm) with 3X fewer pulses and lower energy to effectively treat not just the penile shaft but the penile crus – where 50% of the cavernous bodies that comprise the corpora cavernosa are located.

FAQ - Alma Duo

What is erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition which prevents men from getting or maintaining an erection firm enough for satisfactory sexual intercourse. If erectile dysfunction is an ongoing issue, it can cause stress, affect your self-confidence and contribute to relationship problems. Alma Duo for erectile dysfunction is a non-surgical and non-pharmaceutical treatment for ED.

How many treatments are needed?

Most patients will require a total of 6 treatment sessions, 2 sessions per week for 3 weeks. This schedule allows the tissue time to respond to the treatment before exposing it to more shockwaves. The blood vessels will begin to respond shortly after each treatment. The real benefits typically begin 1 to 2 weeks after the final treatment.

What is anorgasmia?

Anorgasmia is the medical term for difficulty reaching orgasm after ample sexual stimulation. The lack of orgasms may distress you or interfere with your relationship with your partner.

Orgasms vary in intensity, and women vary in the frequency of their orgasms and the amount of stimulation needed to trigger an orgasm. Most women require some degree of direct or indirect clitoral stimulation and don't climax from penetration alone. Plus, orgasms often change with age, medical issues or medications you're taking.

If you're happy with the climax of your sexual activities, there's no need for concern. However, if you're bothered by a lack of orgasm or the intensity of your orgasms, speak with your PCP at Prescott Complete Care about treatment options and how Alma Duo can help.

What can I expect during the treatment?

You will first have to visit with one of the providers to determine if you are a candidate for Duo therapy.

During the treatment, a clear gel will be applied to the penis or vulva. The treatment probe is placed against the skin, sending low intensity shockwaves into the treatment area. There should be no pain at all during the procedure. In fact, most patients do not feel anything at all. Some report that they feel only a slight tingling. There are no numbing creams, needles, or pills.

Each treatment takes approximately 15min.

Following treatments, there is no downtime. You may resume all regular activities right away.

How does Alma Duo help?

For men, one of the causes of ED is the poor flow of blood into the penis caused by unhealthy blood vessels. By applying multiple low-intensity shockwaves to the penis, new and healthy blood vessels develop (known as neo-vascularization), improving blood flow and performance.

For woman, a cause for difficulty achieving orgasm and painful intercourse (dyspareunia) in women is poor blood flow to the clitoris. The Alma Duo delivers low-intensity pulses (feels like a light tapping) that improves vascular function, increases lubrication and sensitivity, and decreases painful sex.

What is the success rate of Alma Duo?

The main question patients have is “Does Alma Duo really work?” Studies have shown that 76% of patients will have an improvement in their International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) score by more than 5 points. The IIEF is just one of the tools used at Prescott Complete Care to determine the severity of your ED and to measure the results of the Alma Duo therapy. Another study showed that 21 out of 29 patients treated had an improvement of their Erection Hardness Score from 2 to > 3.
In very severe cases of ED where the patient could not get an erection even when using medications (such as Viagra or Cialis), after treatment with the Duo, over 70% were able to get an erection with these medicines.
